About Us
The Merriwa Feedlot Competition is an annual feedlot benchmarking trial that brings together producers and industry to measure beef performance under commercial conditions. Teams of three steers are fed for 100 days at Alexander Downs, promoting learning, innovation and connection within the beef industry. The competition is unique in that cattle are showcased to the public at Merriwa Springtime Show, giving vendors, sponsors and the general community the opportunity to peruse and appreciate the finished steers

Entries must be vendor-bred cattle weighing between 245–315kg, delivered to Alexander Downs Feedlot on Thursday 4th of June between 10am and 4pm.
Cattle will be purchased by Alexander Downs at or above competitive market rate, less a $15/head entry fee and levies.
Judging & Processing Dates
Judging will take place on the hoof at the Merriwa Show on Saturday 19th September 2026, after which they will be processed, followed by prize presentations on Saturday 31st of October 2026.
